For the last twelve years I've been a Trustee of the Dunstable Free Public Library in a small Massachusetts town of about 3,000 people. During those years a new library was built with the help of state grants and the support of the town folk. Three years ago, I began working part time at the Tyngsboro Public Library doing circulation, inter-libary loans, and limited copy cataloguing of children's materials.

More recently , I worked full-time as a Library Assistant at the Pollard Memorial Library in Lowell. It's a large historic library, newly renovated, in an urban setting. The patrons are a mix of economic and ethnic populations and the library has its share of challenges meeting the needs of a diverse clientele. In addition to working the circulation desk and information.

In late February 2006 I moved to the Moses Greeley Parker Memorial Library in Dracut, Massachusetts. After a four year building process with two years in a temporary location, the library will reopened to the public on May 8, 2006. My duties at the new library include installing, configuring and maintaining 15 staff computers and 35-plus public computers. In the remaining spare time, I maintain the library web site and work at the reference desk.

All these libraries are part of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium. Each library maintains its own web site and shares a Horizon 7.4 online catalog with the rest of the consortium.

Many moons ago I received a B.A. in History which was promptly shelved when I slide into a job as a fledgling computer programmer. I spent twenty-odd years writing software for computer networks, first on mini-computers, and later on PCs. I've had experience configuring networks, working with markup languages (especially XML), writing tools for database management, and writing software dealing with network management and security.

I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Library Science program at the Southern Connecticut State University School of Information and Library Science.
