The B-24

B-24 Nose Turret

"Of all the four-engine bombers built during the Second World War the B-24 Liberator was probably the most versatile. Apart from its bombing role in all theatres of operation, it hauled fule to France during the push towards Germany, carried troops, fought the U-boat in the Atlantic and, probably most important of all, made a vital contributon towards winning the war in the Pacific." (Borman, "The B24 Liberator 1939-1945")

"A distinctive feature of the Liberator was the enormous twin-finned tail assembly. Those of the 445th Heavy Bombardment Group based at Tibenham were each marked with a black "F' printed on a large white circle." (Norfolk Gliding Club Air Show and Open Day Programme, Sunday 14th September 1975)
